Mindful eating

“We are what we eat… and so much more!” – Jean Kristeller

Introduction

This course is designed to help you develop and maintain a healthy relationship with food that enables you to savour and enjoy food while also nourishing yourself. The course also has a powerful impact on life in general through the cultivation of your mindfulness practice which is a central part of the course.

Mindfulness invites us to cultivate the qualities of curiosity and interest, kindness and compassion, and to let go of judgment and criticism. When we come alongside our relationship with food through the lens of mindfulness we can start to bring about lasting and meaningful change.

The material covered does not offer a diet plan, nor is it a weight loss program. Instead, it allows you to explore your own eating patterns and move towards a more intuitive and wholesome way of eating that enhances your health and well-being.

This course is based on material from the internationally recognised programme, Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT), developed by Jean Kristeller PhD

The course involves...

  • Tasting and savouring your food

  • Tuning into your bodily sensations of hunger, fullness and satiety

  • Bringing awareness to your eating triggers, cravings and emotional eating patterns

  • Choosing foods wisely, for both satisfaction and health

  • Developing a greater sense of ease and freedom around food

  • Identifying ways to nourish yourself beyond food.

FAQ's

How do I know if this course is right for me?

The course is for anyone interested in developing and maintaining a healthy relationship to food. It is a skills-based course rather than a therapy session. As it is not held in a clinical setting, it is not for you if you have a history of disordered eating. Nor is it for if you are looking for nutrition advice or a quick fix for losing weight.

Will this course help me lose weight?

This course is designed to be weight neutral and is not specifically focussed on weight loss. However, evidence shows that mindful and intuitive eating approaches can lead to successful and sustainable weight loss.

Do I need prior mindfulness experience?

This course does not require prior knowledge or experience of mindfulness. It serves as an excellent introduction to the concepts of mindfulness. For those who are experienced in mindfulness it can serve as a way to expand and deepen your practice.
Illustrated Dinner

“This course most certainly delivers on its aim of encouraging you to have a healthier relationship with food. However it also moves beyond this by enabling you to become more in tune with your mind and body and hence achieve learning within other aspects of your life. All this within a group ethos which is caring, supportive and respectful.”
